Sing a song of sixpence

In the interest of doing something Sundayish, I talked to my dad briefly about Craig Jessop resigning from conducting the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. I always hesitate to mention this, but my dad has been a member of the choir for a few years now and he is a fabulous bass. The reason I hesitate is not out of shame - on the contrary, I am extremely proud of his accomplishments with the choir and I'm excited to try and spot him on the tv whenever I watch them. No, I am sad to say that the vocal chords were not passed to me and generally, when I tell people that he is in the choir, they start to assume I have some vocal abilities. I don't want to sound ungrateful for the voice I've been blessed with but the fact is, some voices are just plain better than others and I am just fine with that!

Anyway, where was I going with this, .... oh, so the choir was just as shocked as I was when I heard the news of Bro. Jessop resigning his post and I wonder how long it will take before they make a decision on a new director. But where I was going with this is that I met him, actually a couple days before the passing of Pres. Hinckley, at the airport in St. Louis on the way to SLC. It was pretty neat to shake his hand and now I can say I met him while he was the choir director.

So people have wondered what my dad looks like and before you assume he is asian, he is not, he is caucasian therefore making him harder to spot (I hate to say it but it is true and while I am proud of my caucasian roots, I would try to help up the asian numbers in the choir if I had the talent but we all know that isn't going to happen...) He also sings second bass and he is tall so where does that put him?

right about here and any observant watcher will notice that they rarely show these spots on camera. Sometimes you can find him near his Kenyan friend in the choir who is easier to spot...

But just in case you get tired of your Where's Waldo books, here is what he looks like so you can be on the lookout (you probably won't see him this animated though and more likely you won't see him holding this particular platter) Aedan giggles at this picture so I am putting it up.

I love the choir and even moreso because my baba/Aedan's grandpa is there doing one of the many things he does well. He told me they have a new cd out now, a Called To Serve cd with the missionary theme on it so I will be anxiously waiting for mine in the mail. Way to go pop and we can't wait to see you in general conference!
