I'm happier than a tornado in a trailer park! - Mater

How do you keep your cool in front of your almost two year old in the face of an emergency? I either do one of two things, and sometimes a combo of the two: I either panic and become a worry wort or I have more fun in the given situation that it may appear borderline insane. Oh I was worried Tuesday night when the tornado sirens went off around 10pmish. Luckily (or maybe not so luckily) Aedan was still not asleep so we headed downstairs to wait out the storm. We found the camera to be very amusing and it distracted him fairly well. If you think you have cause to be concerned at my not so instinctive play at handling the situation, well, just know that I wouldn't do this unless we were in some immediate danger... besides, what else were we to do?

Neal was on campus when it all happened and drove home in the middle of torrential rain. The lightening show was unbelievable and as non-stop as I've ever seen. Aedan was pretty scared from all of the noise but the storm passed and we were finally able to calm him down.

Things to be happy about indeed!

  1. I'm glad I wasn't the only one totally freaked out. Next time, we can make flash light signals back and forth!!!

  2. Tornadoes are definitely scary things. I'm so glad I wasn't home when the seven trees were falling on our house last year. I was still pregnant and would have been home alone so ... I probably would have gone into labor!

  4. Dude...that's a serious bow echo on that radar. Looks like a pretty healthy storm! I kind of (in a way) miss exciting weather like that. Connor was born during the biggest tornado outbreak in Lousiana history. Rock on!!! Glad everyone was safe!
